Never mix hair types for your sample. Consistency ensures accuracy.
For Retesting
Always use the same hair type as your original test.
Why it matters: Different hair types can yield varied mineral compositions, impacting comparative analysis.
The most reliable results come from head hair.
Step 3: Collect Your Sample Precisely
Cutting Technique
Cut hair close to the scalp, ideally from the nape of the neck. Take small snips from multiple areas to avoid bald spots. For longer hair, pin it up and cut from underneath.
Optimal Hair Length
Only keep the 1 inch (2 cm) closest to your scalp, discarding longer sections. Shorter hair provides a more accurate snapshot of recent health.
If Shaving
If shaving, use clean electric clippers. Collect multiple times until you have one full tablespoon of hair.
Step 4: Package and Prepare for Sending
Measure Your Sample
You will need about 125 mg of hair, which is approximately the same as filling one level tablespoon.
Secure Your Sample
Place the collected hair into the provided white envelope.
Label Clearly
On the envelope, please write your full name, age, and sex to ensure proper identification.
Final Step
Seal the envelope securely. Send it along with your completed submission form.
